Today is the sky for the first time almost completely cloudy; the sun is struggling through the little gaps only occasionally. The temperature shows unbelievable 19°C and Jaroslav Janduch is pouring his lovely home made raspberry wine right in the morning.
Shortly before ten there is a little bit more of sunshine and the first two paragliding pilots are starting to circle weak thermals above the launch of Nova hola. The just born version of Baranovo is immediately rejected and at 11:00 is the whole of competitive field getting up by cable railway.
"I am the winner then," Michal Cierny is saying as a prophet, looking at the very low cloudbasis and stronger south wind. In spite of that there is a 31km long task announced on a noon briefing; it has got one turning point in Ruzomberok and goal in Besenova. The launching window will be open at 12:30 and his end is due to the wish of Robert Setnicka delayed to 14:40; this means some pilots will be able to get up by the cable railway again and repeated start in the open launching window.
Robert Cisar starts with light troubles into the strong air, but he flies down voluntary on a landing zone in a relatively short time. Juraj Ciernik starts only at 13:00 and he is followed by Robert Kaucarik. Juraj Ciernik gets fed up of flying in turbulence in a ten minutes time and he better lands back on the start. Robert Kaucarik deals with his situation in a similar way and nobody else feels like starting. Wind is getting stronger and at 14:00 are all the racers with their stuff waiting in a queue for the cable railway, now for a change trying to get down.

Due to the hopeless weather forecast for the following two days are organizers deciding to call off the race prematurely and the placing from the only one valid discipline is thus the final placing. The overall winner is the local jock Michal Cierny, who was third in a race in 2000. He was third only in the accuracy of landing, as any other tasks were not flown then, but he was third. Overall second is Peter Hrivnak and third Peter Vrabec. Surprisingly, this placing is also the final placing in a Hobby category.
In the Open category is Stefan Vyparina getting a trophy, second one is Michal Orolin and third is Jaroslav Janduch. In a category of women wins Renata Kuhnova before the second Julia Briadkova and third Rasa Grigoraitiene from Lithuania.
My final thanks go to the main organizer Miro Janciar for my accommodation in a camp Kamzik and also Dusan Hein for the perfect and fast access to the results of each task. It was possible to fly only three tasks on the whole race, but unfortunately only one could be valid. This year is simply somewhat bad competitive year. Maybe it will be better on the race in Krkonose in a week or in august on the Championship of the Czech Republic in Slovenian Tolmin, where will be except for the Czech and Slovenian racers also Slovakian pilots having their Championship of Slovak Republic. And pay attention - the good financial rewards in the race of IPC Cup Chopok, which was cancelled this year, will be probably moved into the Slovakian Championship. Anyway, see you in a year time here in Donovaly again and also on the other traditional race of Victoria Cup.
