Sunday, 6th of July
The morning temperature in Donovaly dropped down to as low as 12°C, with rain falling out of the dark grey sky. At the 9 a.m. briefing the decision on today is delayed till eleven o'clock and two hours later, after the registration of more competitors, today is definitely announced as a non-racing day.

Even though there is no rain falling from the dark heavy clouds, the relatively strong north-westerly wind allows for flying only on the small western slope above the local shepherd's hut, where the Ostrava-based school of the University Club of Technical Sport (company ID No: 62348426), under the leadership of Kamil Konečný and Richard Bojda, lead their promising students through their paces.

 Victoria Cup 2003 - registration

The number of tents and people inhabiting Camp Kamzík against the state of yesterday has grown markedly, with the addition of pilots from Hungary, and Lithuania joining those Slovak, Czech and Polish competitors already here. Also sighted was Renáta Kuhnová, the reigning Czech champion, but allegedly only on her bike, for the time being, and allegedly dressed as a post-woman. In any case, after today's registration the starting line-up has 27 names, with Renáta missing, for the time being at least.

In the late afternoon the wind is getting even stronger and, to add to the woes, it is beginning to rain. We are left with little else but again drown our disillusionment in alcohol, and whereas some members of the drinking party are looking worse and worse as the evening wears on, on the contrary others are looking surprisingly more attractive.
