Tuesday, July 9
The sky is a clear blue from the early morning and judging by the direction of the cloud traces it is evident that the wind direction today will be southeast.

 Morning

On the landing ground at Nová hola the wind is really blowing from the southeast and sun today is unusually bright. It looks like a long discipline and the Czech pilots are evidently feverishly plotting how best to attack the Slovak leaders, when they are still missing points from the first racing day.

 Vít Mádr Czech team-leader

The discipline announced is truly the longest so far and covers a distance of 50 kilometers. There are a total of five turning points - in the following order: Magura hill, Rakytov hill, the village of Vlkolínec, the farm in the village of Partizánska Lupča and the quarry by the village of Ludrová. The goal line today is set at the Ružomberok airfield.

At the moment of opening of the start window at 13:20 the conditions begin to seriously worsen and no one, understandably, wants to go up. Only just before 2 o'clock Jaroslav Jandúch takes off, and is quickly followed by Michal Orolin.

 Nová hola hill

After six minutes of evident torture, both begin to rise and so set off a wave of take-offs among the rest of the pilots. The conditions, however, are not so great as they seemed before noon, and by the time the first, 2km-distant turning point has been reached, traffic on the racing field begins to thin visibly. A total of twelve racers land before the minimum point distance(5km) and only six continue on with great difficulties. Just before the 10th kilometer Michal Orolin finishes his flight and gradually, in the neighborhood of the 12th kilometer land Peter Kučera, Mensák and Borgula.

Štefan Štefák makes it all the way to the 28th kilometer and the only pilot to make it to the goal, with a time of three hours and ten minutes is Jaroslav Jandúch. This makes him the victor of today's discipline. But because only two pilots made it past the minimum required validating distance for the discipline,(15km),and the requirement is 20% of the number of pilots taking off, the discipline is declared invalid, and the points scored do not count for overall placing.

 Landing

"Give me something to drink, quickly! The more I drink, the earlier I sleep, and the earlier I sleep, the fresher I'll be in the morning.", propounds someone and immediately sets about the practical implementation of his theory. This evening it is pleasantly warm at 900 meters above sea level and the evening party in front of the bed & breakfast Spiežovec bar as usual extends long into the night.

 Peter Borgula

At the end of the day then, the overall placing stays the same and tomorrow, in light of the predicted strength and direction of the wind, the starting ground of Podkonické Pleše begins to be considered.
