Tuesday 26.04.05
"I'll have juices only," Petra Krausova refused any alcohol yesterday and even the meal didn't taste her. She arrived to the competition without her boyfriend Martin this time and she seems to miss him pretty. Or her stomach was turned upside down after drinking too much that evening before yesterday, who knows ...

Meteorologists didn't lie at all and the sky is absolutely clear early morning. But high cirrus starts to appear on the west side shortly before ten o'clock and all pilots hurry up to taking off zone. German pilots even learned boarding into the lift in a couple with two bags. Well done und alles gute!

The wind at the taking off point is very light and thanks to the bright sun some pilots can put on T-shirts and breeches for the first time. The navigationally simple discipline, claimed at noon, is 72.3km long with one turning point only. Pilots will have to fly at first 10km towards an atmospheric front slowly coming from the west and after turning they will fly 60km back eastward in the direction of the goal which is located in Kazanlak. In contrast to yesterday's zigzag moving it means just one flying round the taking off point.

But just one hour before the start window opening organisers notice a wall of high cumulus which appears on the northwest side. And what is more, one of avocational pilots falls down in a negative behind the taking off area. Fortunately, he fell softly and the event ended without any consequences for him. Thus the new briefing takes place at 1 p.m. and a new task is declared. Now the track leads around and spans four turning points. The goal line will be set on the landing zone under the taking off hill. The total length is now 60.6km and the window will be open at half past one.

"Window is open! Don't forget to turn right!" cries organiser's megaphone and after ten minutes of hesitating the field starts moving. But the air is very stable today and raising up rather difficult. After the fight on the firts leg of the route when nobody succeeds in raising more than 100 meters above the taking off point level and almost half of the pilots is forced to land, organisers cancel the task due to a storm. There are no changes in total ranking today and because of an odd date tomorrow pilots will turn left. Well, don't forget to turn left!
