Friday 12.08.05
The wind is relatively strong today too and pesimists detain the departure to the hill. Only after eleven o'clock the whole racing field starts to move to the taking off area. Today's task is 85.3km long and the first half of the route spans four turning points not far from the taking off point and the final leg towards the goal in Lardosa leads over small hills 200m high.

Two hours long starting window is open at one in the afternoon and while a wild dust devil hurts one pilot right at the taking off point, an Italian pilot throws his reserve shortly after his take-off and hangs himself at the top of a tree. Despite the strong wind a thermal activity works very well today and lifts with a speed of 6m/s raise up to a height of 3400 meters.

Only 22 pilots have landed before the minim distance of 40 kilometers which is needed for the today's task validity. Thanks to the strong wind the first pilot Rüdiger Gördes from Germany reaches the goal after 2 hours and 38 minutes and he becomes a winner of today's task. German pilot Torsten Siegel arrives one minute past and Czech Tomas Brauner next minute behind Torsten. Altogether 81 competitors have arrived to the goal this last but one day of The Paragliding World Cup. The last of them even landed at seven in the evening. Tomorrow will be the day which sets the final PWC ranking and the winners will be announced.
