Friday 12.05.06
"The contemporary successful man is that one who earns lots of money and the successful woman is that one who manages to win that man over," I can remember the idea of yesterday's wise man in the morning and really nothing remains in present days but to agree. Weather looks very nice in the morning, there are no clouds in the sky and the wind doesn't blow at all. We can expect that the southern taking off area would be used today and a triangle task would be declared.

Indeed, 60 kilometers long triangle is declared at a briefing at noon. It spans two turning points Terchova, Husarik hotel near Cadca and the goal is located under Stranik hill. Three hours long starting window will be open at half past noon, the same time as yesterday. A dead line is defined this time prudently which means the latest time when everybody must give organisers his GPS unit with a tracklog.

Although conditions look great, catching a lift in the cloudless sky is not easy at all and many pilots use the second bringing up from Teplicka to Stranik. Lifts are rather narrow and turbulent today and their speed rarely exceedes 4m/s. Even when a cloudIess thermal activity allows to rise up to a pretty height, the highest permited level forces all pilots to leave lifts in a height of 2600 meters. Sadly, not all of them and ten pilots get zero points today.

The flight on the third leg of the route proves to be too hard and from 12 of competitors behind the second turning point only Ludek Prochazka reaches the goal finally and he becomes the winner of today's task. Peter Vrabec lands about 8 kilometers before the goal line and Renata Kuhnova lands 800 meters behind him. Ludek Prochazka shifted himself to the first position of the total ranking of the competition.
