The strong north-eastern wind blows on the top of Stranik hill

Meteorologists were right this time. There are neither snow nor freezing cold on Stranik as it was during the first day of this competition in the last year, however strong north-eastern wind blows over the top of the hill. This is the only one direction of the wind when flying proves to be impossible. Bad luck. Nobody can realize any training flight today and it looks according to it on the top of Stranik shortly before noon. Desolate and vacuously.

It's a long time I was here and my eyes try to find some noticeable changes around. Loads of broken trunks and branches lie about because of heavy snow which fell in winter. They will certainly come in useful for evening campfires. The strong wind sends up yellow dust from the driveway and whirles a white soft ash above the cold fireplace at my feet. I think I miss something here. "Sir, will you split or share the bill, please...?"

A church in Zastranie village under Stranik hill

Sunday 07.05.06
"I'll bring low shoes and the white shirt with me after all," Martin "Manci" Vavra claimed on Friday already but I can't see him in the church under Stranik at Sunday's mass this very early morning. He doesn't pray again. Maybe that's why the same strong wind blows this morning and besides I'm afraid God will punish him by a flooded tent in the nearest heavy rain.

"Thanks God, the snow is not falling now," someone of 42 registered pilots remarks in a whisper and considering the strong eastern wind today's discipline is cancelled at eleven already. Maybe Monday's task will be flown from Martinske hole where large snow fields can be seen at a height of 1500 meters above the sea level and where the temperature rises just a little bit above zero. Organisers will take a decision at 9.30 a.m. tomorrow.
